Speaking with media ahead of his team's regular season finale, Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice admitted that it won't be a high-octane hockey game in terms of what fans expect from a couple of playoff teams.

«There is almost – this is going to sound terrible for hockey – a gentleman's agreement,» Maurice said. «I don't think you're going to see any late hits. Both teams are getting ready. There will be a certain amount of respect on the ice.»

Many fans over the years have grown to like and respect Maurice for saying it like it is and this quote is helps show that. You can't blame his Jets nor the Toronto Maple Leafs for taking it easy tonight given that the game means nothing for either team in the standings. The Leafs were able to clinch first place in the North Division meaning they will be facing off against the Montreal Canadiens in the playoffs, while the Jets placed third and will play the Edmonton Oilers.

While there may not be much in the way of extra-curricular activity if Maurice and Keefe have their way, we cannot discount the heated altercations that these two teams have had this season, including exchanges between Thornton/Ehlers and Simmonds/Dubois. We may still see some fireworks tonight regardless of what the coaches might prefer.
