As the player enjoys his vacation, more worrying photos of veteran Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin's health have been released publicly.
The Washington Capitals, with all their flaws, have been lucky for the 19 years they have kept on veteran forward Alex Ovechkin. Now, with more than 1400 names at the NHL level, Ovi could be the first player to break Wayne Gretzky's all-time goal-scoring record.
"Gretzky records that could be broken in the next couple years:
Goals Gretzky (894g) | Ovechkin (853g)
Single Season Playoff Points Gretzky (47pts) | McDavid (38pts)
Most Assists in a Finals Series Gretzky (10a) | McDavid (6a)
Most 50-goal seasons Gretzky (9x) | Ovechkin (9x)
Most point-per-game seasons Gretzky (19x) | Crosby (19x)
Most consecutive point-per-game seasons Gretzky (19x) | Crosby (19x)
Just about every other record is unbreakable."
Many fans, however, grew worried about the player's ability to compete next season. Following their first-round elimination in this year's playoffs by the New York Rangers, Alex Ovechkin was caught with a much less impressive physique than he usually maintains.
"Ovi out there having a big back summer oh my god 😂"
Unfortunately, Ovechkin has not assuaged any Washington Capitals fans' concerns. Just over a week after the notorious tennis photo dropped, Ovi was seen in a series of photos and videos on Instagram, showing that the player has not lost any of his vacation weight.

Though the player does not seem to have kept up with a stringent diet, he is clearly keeping active. With ample time before the start of the regular season and training approaching, hopefully, Alex Ovechkin can get back on track for his last years with the NHL. If he is lucky, he will be in good enough shape to finally take Wayne Gretzky's goal-scoring record.
