The Vancouver Canucks have been looking for a depth upgrade in their bottom-six, and after working out Phil Kessel recently, we've got an update on the situation.
Canucks GM gives major update on Phil Kessel Signing
Despite not hearing much over the past few weeks, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has now given a major update on the entire situation.
Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin on Phil Kessel:
«Phil has made his way to Vancouver and will be working out in Abbotsford this week."
The 36-year old had a fantastic campaign for Vegas a year ago, notching 14 goals and 22 points in 82 games, and while he's no longer the star he once was, he can still get it done in the bottom-six.
On top of that comment from the Canucks GM, top Insider Rick Dhawali has given another update on Phil the Thrill, revealing that both parties are very optimistic that a deal will get done.
"I am not hearing anything negative when it comes to the Canucks and Kessel. He will continue to work out this week, all sides want this to end with a signing. The goal was always to sign Kessel, I think that's where it's trending."
With the additions of Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov this season, the Canucks are clearly going all in to chase a Stanley Cup, and if they can add Kessel, it gives them another weapon and plenty of Championship winning experience for their playoff run.
