Defenseman Yegor Sorokin unexpectedly passes away at the age of 27
More bad news has come out of the hockey world as it's been reported that 27-year-old Russian defenseman Yegor Sorokin has sadly passed away unexpectedly.
Yegor Sorokin, a 27-year-old ex-Russian defenseman, has tragically died; this is a sad moment for the hockey world which is now in mourning. He still had a lot of years in front of him, and this has sent many into shock. It's just one of those things that really shows just how fragile life is at times and how it sometimes can take individuals much too early.
Sorokin had played five years of hockey in Russia's MHL with clubs such as Yekaterinburg Auto Jr, Nizhnekamsk Reaktor, Volzhsk, and Ufa Tolpar. The 6-foot defender had 55 points in 205 games, including two straight 20-assist seasons. In the VHL, he played 91 games for such clubs as Volzhsk Ariada-Akpars, Perm Molot-Prikamye, Uchaly Gornyak, and Samara CSK VVS. He did a great job on the ice and was considered both dedicated and skillful.
However, the memory of Sorokin transcends the game itself. His passing serves as a sad yet sure reminder that, in the big picture, there is more to life than the pursuit of a career or dream.
