David Ayres was one of the biggest stories in recent NHL memory, and now the veteran goaltender has inked a surprising new deal after one of the most incredible evenings that the hockey world has ever seen.

Back in 2019/20, David Ayres became the story of the NHL, as the Toronto Maple Leafs zamboni driver at the time was called in as the Carolina Hurricanes emergency goaltender. In that game, he would stop 8 of the 10 shots he saw on the night, helping Carolina to victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, with the team giving him an incredible reaction after the game.
Ayres has not played professional hockey since this point, but he remains a huge name in the hockey world, and now it has now been announced that he is signing a new deal, officially landing with the Richmond Hill Coyotes of the OSHL.

At 47-years of age, this is a massive deal for Ayres, as he looks to continue his professional hockey career following one of the best one-game stints that the league has ever seen. However, he hasn't been playing at a high level since this game almost five years ago when he was 42 years of age, so now, the Coyotes are bringing him in at 47, looking to get some attention and some great goaltending on the back end.
Despite happening years ago, the David Ayres game in the NHL is one of the most memorable games in recent NHL history, so now we will see if he can recapture that magic in the OSHL and put the Richmond Hill Coyotes on the map.
