Will they keep him or not? That has been the question regarding Edmonton Oilers General Manager Ken Holland since the team's sluggish start to the 2023-24 season. An insider has now weighed in with the answer.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the question of whether Holland returns to Edmonton next season has already been settled.

Edmonton's ownership could get rid of him before then, but a GM won't be the difference in making the playoffs or not this year. As for any damage Holland could do in the meantime, many have wondered whether it was actually him that made the call to send goaltender Jack Campbell to the minors, or whether decision-making for the team has already been turned over to someone else.

At the end of the day, it seems this will be Holland's last season in Edmonton. The only question left is whether to let him ride off into the sunset when his contract expires, or to speed up the process by canning him mid-season.
