Nashville Predators general manager David Poile announced early Monday that the team has signed forward Luke Evangelista to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Evangelista, 18, has spent the last two seasons playing for the London Knights in the OHL. His rookie season didn't show a ton of promise, as he was limited to just 27 games and posted only two assists. His play changed dramatically in 2019-20 however, as he put up 23 goals and 61 points in 62 games. This wasn't a complete surprise, as the Knights knew he was extremely talented, having selected him with the 14th overall pick in the 2018 OHL draft.

Evangelista has yet to begin his 2020-21 season as the OHL season will not begin until early December as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. When it does, look for him to build on those numbers and set new OHL career highs for himself again, as he has found his confidence at that level. While he is still years away from being ready for the NHL, he looks like a great selection for the Predators early on.
