JT Miller has broken his silence on his reasoning to waive his no-trade clause and accept a trade to the New York Rangers from the Vancouver Canucks.

J.T. Miller had an immediate impact in returning to the New York Rangers. A little less than a day removed from having been traded, Miller scored twice in Saturday's 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Boston Bruins.

Miller believes the Rangers can and will make the playoffs

Back in the city in which his NHL career began, 31-year-old winger Miller is relieved to have an opportunity to make a new beginning in New York. He feels a lot about the potential of the group and is positive that they can make a run at a playoff position.

«I would say it took a team effort to find a different place but obviously New York is a special place and couldn't be happier to be here now,» Miller said. «Just for my family, even outside of hockey, there, there were 1,000 reasons to want to come here with the hockey team that has been one of the best teams in the league for three or four years in a row. I'm excited to be a part of it, trying to get back into the playoff picture.»

Not one to make a new player sit, head coach Peter Laviolette inserted Miller into a big role immediately. He played 18:48 of ice and sat in a top unit on a big power-play chance.

Miller played between Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad for most of Saturday's game and will receive even more ice in the near future, according to observers, as he continues to settle in.
