The Winnipeg Jets announced that they have signed their 2020 first round pick, Cole Perfetti, to a three-year entry-level contract worth $4,974,999 million ($1,658,333 million AAV).

Perfetti, 18, was drafted in the first round, tenth overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2020 NHL entry draft last month.

He's spent the last couple seasons playing for the Saginaw Spirit in the Ontario Hockey League. During his OHL career, Perfetti is near a 1.5 point per game player. In 123 regular season OHL games, he's put up 185 points (74 G, 111 A), 26 penalty minutes, and is a +85. In 16 playoff games, he's tallied 14 points (8 G, 6 A), 4 penalty minutes, and is a +9. Following the 2019-20 season, Perfetti was named both CHL and OHL Scholastic Player of the Year. The awards are given to the player who bests combines success on the ice with success in school. He was also named to the second OHL All-Star team. Despite leading the OHL in points, and goals by a rookie during the 2018-19 campaign, Perfetti was not named OHL Rookie of the Year, with the honour going to Sudbury Wolves forward Quinton Byfield.

Intenationally, Perfetti has represented Canada on a couple occasions, most recently at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. He led the tournament in scoring with 12 points (8 G, 4 A) in 5 games. Although Perfetti had a strong tournament, Canada couldn't overcome the Russians in the gold medal game, losing by a score of 3 to 2.

Last month, Perfetti was one of 47 players named to Canada's selection camp roster for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. The selection camp will be held in Red Deer, Alberta and is set to begin on November 16th and run until December 13th. The selection camp will consist of practices, three intrasquad games, and six games against the U Sports All-Stars. Given his strong play last year with Saginaw, Perfetti should have no problem finding his way on to Canada's final roster for the World Juniors.
