The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has announced it has received approval for and will move forward with its 'protected environment event'. Seven teams that are located in COVID-19 'red zones' in Quebec will temporarily establish their headquarters in Quebec City to each play six regular season games.

The teams include the the Gatineau Olympiques, the Drummondville Voltigeurs, the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, the Victoriaville Tigres, the Shawinigan Cataractes, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and the Quebec Remparts. Games will take place from November 17th to 27th at Videotron Centre in Quebec City.

"Quebec Public Health officials have studied the QMJHL's protected environment event over the last few days. The health department came back to the league with a list of recommendations that must be applied throughout the event," said the league in a statement. "The QMJHL has always and will continue to follow Public Health directives to ensure the safety of the participants, without exception."

Quebec has been struggling to contain outbreaks of COVID-19 throughout the province, creating red zones with extra restrictions in places where cases have been particularly high. The Q League has promised to release further details about the protected environment in the coming days.
