A bit of a strange situation on the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Saturday when a game was cancelled just before the referee was about to drop the puck for the opening faceoff. While the opening faceoff was being set up between the Rimouski Oceanic and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, officials received a call that there had been a positive test for COVID-19 in the league.

Both teams had just returned to play at the end of October following a break of more than three weeks due to the numerous cases of COVID-19 across Quebec. The Oceanic won Friday night's game against Baie-Comeau by a score of 1-0. The Q League has announced it will give more details in the coming days concerning the postponement of the game and of course, the positive test.

“At the end of the national anthem, I was told that a Chicoutimi Saguenéens staff member had tested positive and I was asked to pass the handset to the officials,” said Serge Beausoleil, head coach of Rimouski.

“The players don't understand why we can't play against a team we played against yesterday. Both teams wanted to play hockey today. It's just a preventive measure imposed by the League. We will follow the guidelines of the league, but at the same time we played against this team yesterday. The players do not understand, ”continued Beausoleil.
