Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba is no longer looking to be traded by the organization, per Michael Russo of The Athletic. Dumba was involved in plenty of trade rumours towards the end of the season and into the beginning of this offseason, but the team has done a complete 180 on trading the 26-year-old D-man.

The Wild were reportedly looking to trade Dumba for a first or second line center, but apparently the mindset has changed after acquiring Marcus Johansen and drafting Marco Rossi.

Dumba's value just is not where the Wild want it to be considering most teams do not have the cap space to acquire a $6 million player, especially after he had a bit of a down year. Then you also have to add in the fact that the team acquiring Dumba would have to find a way to protect him in the upcoming expansion draft. Wild GM Bill Guerin was unlikely to get the piece he wanted in return.

If Dumba can have a bounce-back season his trade value would likely come back to where it was before this season, and the Wild would once again be more inclined to move him. If the Wild do not move him, they may have to protect 8 skaters instead of seven forwards, three defenseman, and one goalie during the expansion draft. As of right now, there is no rush to move him anymore.
