Tony DeAngelo of the New York Rangers appears to enjoy riling people up on social media. The 25-year-old outspoken Donald Trump supporter has made several comments on Twitter in recent years that have caused backlash, something he appears to usually revel in. Not this time, though. After making some comments Wednesday regarding the ongoing election in the United States, and receiving expected backlash, DeAngelo has gone dark on all his social media accounts, deleting every one of them.

Early Wednesday morning, DeAngelo made a sarcastic Tweet asking why no one was talking about COVID-19 any longer. Of course, the big topic in the U.S. currently is the Presidential election and that Democrat Joe Biden appears to have won it. Several people responded to DeAngelo pointing out that New York state was still releasing COVID-19 info and that hundreds had tested positive on Tuesday while several people had died. Shortly after, there was no longer any sign of DeAngelo anywhere in the social media world.

Whether the decision to go dark was DeAngelo's or came at the advice of his team or friends remains to be seen. The defenceman has called out what he refers to as "snowflakes" several times over the last couple of years. It was also interesting to see a previous Tweet written about two years ago that stated the difference between him and those he referred to as liberals is that he would not cry or rave if Trump did not win the next election. He stated he would simply hope that Biden would do a good job.

Update: it appears the Rangers themselves may have had something to do with DeAngelo disappearing from social media. According to Matt Porter of The Boston Globe, he put in a request to speak with DeAngelo, which was promptly denied. He was told the situation was "handled internally."
