It was announced today that the Utah Hockey Club have acquired forward Sammy Walker from the Minnesota Wild.

Walker, a former seventh round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2017, has played in 13 NHL games for the Minnesota Wild, and has been a star in the AHL consistently with strong production.

In exchange for Walker, the Utah Hockey Club has agreed to future considerations, which generally means there will be no return.

The Minnesota Wild's GM, Bill Guerin, made the following announcement after the trade call:

Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has traded forward Sammy Walker to the Utah Hockey Club in exchange for future considerations.

Walker collected two points (1-1=2) in 13 NHL games with Minnesota and recorded 104 points (43-61=104) in 156 career American Hockey League (AHL) games with Iowa.

We will see if Sammy Walker can find a spot on the Utah Hockey Club, but he will likely be playing with the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL.

Minnesota has been home to Walker for many years, and he was a former captain of their beloved college hockey team at the University of Minnesota - the Golden Gophers.

Serving three seasons as captain, Walker truly bled Minnesota, but has not been able to find the right spot in their lineup.

More details to come.
