Both the Edmonton Oilers and the Buffalo Sabres added depth pieces to their organization for the next two seasons.

Oilers general manager announced that the team has re-signed defenceman William Lagesson to a two-year deal. The contract is a two-way deal for the 2020-21 season, and a one-way for 2021-22 with an average annual value (AAV) of $725,000. The 24-year-old defenceman, who the Oilers selected in the fourth round (91st overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, appeared in the NHL for the first time in his career last season, suiting up for eight games. He also played 25 games in the AHL for the Bakersfield Condors. He has a strong shot at remaining with the Oilers full time next season as a seventh defenceman.

The Sabres announced a signing of their own, as they have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with goaltender Dustin Tokarski. It is also a two-year deal with an AAV of $725,000. The 31-year-old played in 18 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL last season, posting a very impressive 1.97 goals against average along with a .924 save percentage. While he likely won't start the 2020-21 season in the NHL, he provides the Sabres with depth. He has played in 34 NHL career regular season games, as well as an additional five in the postseason.
