The Detroit Red Wings announced Tuesday morning that they have signed forward Anthony Mantha to a four-year extension which will pay him $5.7 million per season.

Mantha, 26, has played in four seasons with the Red Wings, his first four as an NHLer. He was limited to just 43 games this year due to injury, but still finished third in team scoring with 38 points. The Longueuil, Quebec native finished just 10 points shy of his career high 48, which he had in 67 games during 2018-19, as well as the same total in 80 games the season prior to that. Unfortunately, he has had troubles staying healthy throughout his career, playing over 70 games just once throughout his first four seasons in the league. When he has been able to play however, he has been one of his team's best offensive producers.

Mantha has been a part of the Red Wings organization since he was selected in the first round (20th overall) at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-5 forward has played in 260 NHL games to this point, posting 84 goals and 173 points. If he is able to stay healthy, this is a great signing by general manager Steve Yzerman.
