The Boston Bruins announced today that they've re-signed forward Zach Senyshyn to a one-year, two-way contract, worth $700,000. Senyshyn was one of the Bruins' three first round picks in the 2015 NHL entry draft.

Senyshyn, 23, was drafted in the first round, 15th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2015 NHL entry draft. In 6 career NHL games, he has 3 points (1 G, 2 A), 0 penalty minutes, and is a +1.

He's spent the majority of his professional career in the American Hockey League with Boston's affiliate, the Providence Bruins. In 174 regular season AHL games, Senyshyn's put up 66 points (33 G, 33 G), 47 penalty minutes, and is a -4. In 12 AHL playoff games, he has 1 point (1 A), 4 penalty minutes, and is a -5.

Senyshyn had a very successful junior career statistically. He played four seasons with the Soo Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League, the last two he was an alternate captain. In 195 regular season games with the Greyhounds, he had 177 points (114 G, 63 A), 68 penalty minutes, and was a +50. In 37 playoff games, he had 21 points (10 G, 11 A), 16 penalty minutes, and was a +5.

With Bruins forwards Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak out long term while recovering from surgeries, it's possible Senyshyn pushed for a spot in the Bruins line-up on opening night for the 2020-21 season whenever that may begin. Newly acquired Craig Smith will likely take over in the right wing role on the top line, while Ondrej Kase will probably be on the second line, so it is possible Senyshyn could battle for bottom-six role.
