The Pittsburgh Penguins have decided to terminate the contract of former fourth-overall pick Jesse Puljujarvi by placing him on waivers today.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed forward Jesse Puljujarvi on unconditional waivers today with the purpose of terminating his contract.

Puljujarvi, 26, has been relegated to healthy scratch duties as of late and last dressed for the Penguins on Jan. 29 when they played the Utah Hockey Club.

That lone appearance followed a recall from the AHL, with the Penguins having sent Puljujarvi down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton back on Jan. 14.

The Penguins had also placed Puljujarvi on waivers on Dec. 30, and most recently reassigned him to their AHL affiliate team on Feb. 5.

So far this season, Puljujarvi has appeared in 26 games for the Penguins, scoring just three goals with six assists while averaging only 11 minutes, and 36 seconds of nightly ice time.

In the AHL this season, he has one goal with two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Puljujarvi is signed through the end of this season for a salary cap hit of $800,000, per Puck Pedia.

In other news, the Utah Hockey Club placed Vladislav Kolyachonok on waivers to assign him to the AHL.

Kolyachonok will be sent to AHL Tucson if he passes through waivers unclaimed. The defenseman has been a healthy scratch for a whopping 14 consecutive games. He has two goals and five points in 23 NHL games this season.
