The Montreal Canadiens and Brendan Gallagher have reached an agreement on a new contract extension. The deal is for 6 years with an AAV of $6.5 million.

The deal will run through the end of the 2026-27 season. The 28-year-old tallied 43 points in 59 games with Montreal in 2019-20. He was tied for first on his team in goals with 22, and he has led the team in goals for three straight seasons.

In eight seasons with the Canadiens, Gallagher has recorded 334 points (173 goals, 161 assists) in 547 games. He ranks 17th in goals for the franchise's history already. The star forward will continue to be an enormous piece of the team and its community.

The alternate captain getting an extension was a huge priority for Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin. The Montreal Canadiens continue to make themselves look like a postseason contender, and their general manager is a huge part of that reason.
