The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they've signed their first round pick from the 2020 NHL entry draft, Tyson Foerster.

"Tyson obviously has a lot of offensive gifts. He can shoot the puck tremendously well. Goal scorer. Playmaker. Great hockey sense. Really good size. He's got a lot of attributes. I think the good thing about Tyson was very good with self-awareness, of his strengths and the areas that he needs to improve. He's worked very hard on those areas during the pause. We expect he'll continue to develop into a pretty good player." Flyers general manger Chuck Fletcher said.

Foerster, 18, has spent the last two seasons with the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League. In 126 career OHL games, he has 103 points (46 G, 57 A), 77 penalty minutes, and is a -16.

He was named to the CHL/NHL top prospects game back in January. Foerster was named player of the game for Team White after recording 3 points (2 G, 1 A). He was ranked 21st among North American Skaters in the final NHL central scouting rankings for the 2020 draft, a jump of 20 spots after being ranked 41st in the mid-term rankings.

Foerster has a lethal shot, one of the best out of all players that were available in the 2020 NHL entry draft. With the OHL season in doubt, the next time Flyers fans may get a glimpse at the future is at the 2021 World Juniors, where Foerster has a good chance of making Canada's roster.
