The Buffalo Sabres took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to announce that they have re-signed forward Tage Thompson to a three-year contract with an average annual value of $1.4 million.

Thompson, 22, was selected by the Sabres with the 22nd overall pick at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. After being drafted, he went on to play one more season for the University of Connecticut, posting 19 goals and 32 points in 34 games. He has since bounced around between the NHL and the AHL. This past season, he appeared in 16 games with the Rochester Americans of the AHL, where he put up 12 points. As a result, he was called up by the Sabres, but suffered a season ending injury in his first game with the team.

Thompson has played in a total of 107 NHL games to this point, including a career high 65 during the 2018-19 season. In those 107 games, he has racked up 10 goals and 21 points. While the totals at the NHL level aren't there yet, he has shown his skill level at the AHL level. He will look to translate that to the NHL level this upcoming season.
