The trade deadline speculation is heating up in a big way, and now, it appears as though the LA Kings could be tempted to move rising star Quinton Byfield.

With just over a week to go until the 2025 NHL trade deadline, speculation is heating up in a big way, and after some of the moves we've already seen this season, it's safe to say that absolutely anything could happen.

There's already names like Brad Marchand, Alex Tuch and even the already traded Mikko Rantanen floating out there in trade rumours, and now, top Insider Nick Kypreos has shocked with another name on his recent trade board.

Quinton Byfield is a name to watch here for a few reasons. The first is that, if Los Angeles is to make a big move to counter Vegas and Edmonton, they'll have to give up a significant young piece to a seller. Byfield is exactly that, a 22-year-old and the second overall pick from the 2020 draft.

That has left the Los Angeles organization wondering how high Byfield's ceiling truly is and if the team would be better off focusing on the here and now by flipping Byfield for a more seasoned roster upgrade.

At 22-years of age, Byfield has one of the highest ceilings in the NHL, but with the Kings looking up at two loaded teams in the Pacific Division, Kypreos believes they could consider dealing Byfield for a major upgrade.

Teams like the Buffalo Sabres and Chicago Blackhawks among others could be interested in the former first-round pick, so while it's not guaranteed that he'll be on the move, it could be one of the biggest deals in recent memory if he is indeed traded ahead of the deadline.
