Former Hart Trophy winner Taylor Hall will likely be in a new city when the 2020-21 seasons starts. The 28-year-old will be a free agent on October 9th unless he signs an extension with Arizona. According to one insider, that doesn't seem likely.

"If a team is willing to give a draft pick for Hall's negotiating rights, they are willing to do that," said Crag Morgan while appearing on Sportsnet 650 radio. "It's pretty clear they are not willing to re-sign Taylor Hall."

TSN's Darren Dreger also confirms that Hall's rights are being shopped by the Coyotes.

Hall was traded to Arizona by the New Jersey Devils in December of 2019. At one point, the Coyotes were trying very hard to get Hall to put pen to paper to stay in the desert. However, it's been recently reported that the team is now more concerned with saving money and is looking to stay around $10 million under the salary cap next season. Cutting Hall loose and trading Oliver Ekman-Larsson, as has been rumoured, will accomplish that.

Meanwhile, there have been rumblings that Hall may be willing to sign a one or two-year deal with a contender in order to get closer to the Stanley Cup and set himself up for a larger contract in the future. That said, 28 is the perfect time to sign a contract for as many years as possible before his play starts to decline.
