Veteran defenseman re-signs with the Stars

The Dallas Stars have agreed to an extension with defenseman Andrej Sekera.

The extension is a 2-year contract carrying an annual average value of $1,500,000 per season. It will lead him through the 2021-22 season.

Sekera played 57 games and had 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points in his first season with the Stars.

Sekera was drafted 71st overall in the 2004 NHL entry draft by the Buffalo Sabres. He has played for 5 different teams including the Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars.

Sekera's best season was with the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2013-14 season, in which he played 74 games and had 11 goals and 33 assists for 44 points.

He was signed as a free agent by the Dallas Stars in 2019.
