"Boston has long been a favorite spot for Ekman-Larsson," Morgan wrote in his latest article. "Had he opted for free agency in 2019, rather than signing an eight-year contract extension (AAV of $8.25 million) with the Coyotes in 2018, Boston was a likely landing spot."
Morgan also notes that Boston's group of prospects is likely more interesting to Arizona's management but, again, Vancouver seems to be pushing harder for the trade right now.
Ekman-Larsson's best season offensively came in 2015-16 when he recorded 21 goals and 55 points. He's been consistently around the 40-plus point mark throughout his career. Both Vancouver and Boston will have to shed salary in order to take on his contract.
According to Morgan, the Coyotes have asked Ekman-Larsson to expand his trade list beyond Vancouver and Boston but he isn't budging at the moment.
