The Ottawa Senators were the envy of no one during the 2019-20 regular season. The team is, however, in the enviable position of selecting third and fifth in the upcoming 2020 draft that is deep with prospects. For a while now, reporters have been trying to gauge what the team is planning to do with those picks. Trent Mann, Ottawa's Director of Amateur Scouting, gave some insight in an interview Tuesday, saying other teams are calling about the fifth overall pick and the Sens are listening.

"At five, I think it's going to depend on what happens ahead of us and that's the thing for us, we have to be ready for a number of different things including a scenario where maybe somebody wants to move up and take five as well," said Mann during the interview.

Mann made it clear that Ottawa will be taking Quinton Byfield or Tim Stuetzle with the third overall slection, depending on what the LA Kings do before them. He believes Stuetzle is closer to NHL ready than Byfield as he's "been playing in the DEL (top-tier German league) against men."

Whatever Ottawa does, it would take some seriously terrible decision making not to see the team helped almost immediately. The Sens also have the 28th overall pick, as well as four picks in the second round of the draft.
