After winning a grueling seven game series vs the New York Rangers, the New Jersey Devils season is over after losing in five games to the Carolina Hurricanes.

After the game Devils head coach Lindy Ruff would share news about the health of Devils captain Jack Hughes and that he wasn't expected to play Thursday night.

Lindy Ruff did not think that Jack Hughes was going to be able to play tonight. He's got an upper-body injury.

"For him to put his skates on and play, says a lot about his character."

After the overtime loss Hughes met with the media and spoke of his disappointment of losing the series.
It's frustrating, but we had a great year. It sucks that we're out now, but we have a bright future ahead of us."

Hughes was asked by the media suggesting the team's young age played a factor in the series?
"I dont think it matters about a young team or whatever, they just played better than us. We're a competitive group and we wanted to go deeper."

The Devils are definitely making steps in the right direction, and with the young talent the Devils have, expect the Devils to possibly go deeper in the playoffs as early as next season.
