The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Toronto Maple Leafs played in Tampa last night, less than a week out from their first round playoff matchup and even though the Leafs were resting their stars, it still felt like a playoff game

Near the end of the first period, Schenn and former teammate Pat Maroon squared off in a spirited tilt, after the game, he explained why:

It's important to be able to separate your friendships on and off the ice, especially when you win a Stanley Cup together. Being able to turn that friendship off when the puck is down.

Some people have scrutinized the Schenn acquisition by the Leafs but this is exactly the attitude you need when you're trying to win a Stanley Cup, or in Schenn's case his third.

A winning attitude is something that has been sorely lacking from this Leafs team. With players like Schenn with a winning pedigree and knowing what you have to do, this may be the year the Leafs make it out of the first round.
