It's understandable that Toronto Maple Leafs' forward Michael Bunting would consider testing free agency after two productive seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. I've talked to teams around the league that like Bunting and would give him term... I think if he goes to market him getting a 6-year $24M contract is not out of the question.
The Maple Leafs may not be willing, or able, to match offers from other teams if they are significantly higher than what they can afford. Bunting may have to take a hometown discount if he wants to stay with the Leafs, although it's uncertain how much of a discount the Leafs would require. According to Mike Johnson, Bunting could garner up to $4M annually on a six-year contract.
