The other day, the NHL's first sweater ads were revealed, and the Internet had mixed opinions. Traditionalists hate it whereas pragmatists apathetically accept it. The real controversy is promoting sports books and casinos, as the industry is dominating air waves in and around sports. It is, quite frankly, abrasive.

Nevertheless, Capitalism is going to Capitalism. While most clubs are giving in, it appears there is one team who will not be: the Edmonton Oilers.

According to one report, the Oilers have considered several sponsors, but ultimately they decided 'it's not something that's necessary.' That is a 'W' if I have ever seen one. Another way of putting it; keep the change.

The Oilers are bringing back their 'Royal Blue and Orange' kits from the early 2010s, and they ultimately decided they did not want to sell an advertisement on their sweaters. One has to wonder if the Oilers' decision will impact the decisions of other clubs leading up to the start of the 2022-23 season.
