The New York Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist announced today that the Rangers' all-time leader in wins is to accept a newly created Business Operations role for both the club and MSG Networks.

Lundqvist retired last year, and he had his #30 retired and raised to the rafters earlier this year. The Swedish netminder -- sometimes called the Most Interesting Man in the World -- is carving out a new role for himself, something he was apparently keen on doing since his retirement.

"During the past year since I announced my retirement, I have enjoyed the opportunity to explore many different areas of the sports and entertainment industry and I look forward to continuing on that path," said Lundqvist. "At the same time, I am a Ranger at heart, and Madison Square Garden is my home. I am thrilled to continue my relationship with MSG and the Rangers in this exciting, expanded role."

Specifically, Lundqvist's role with both entities will focus on representing MSG and its enterprises in a variety of future endeavors, content development, relations with Rangers alumni, and supporting the Garden of Dreams Foundation. Additionally, Lundqvist will retain his role as lead studio analyst on MSG Network for the '22-23 season.

This is massive news for Rangers' fans, as there can never be too many club legends in and around an organization. Lundqvist's presence is a total net-positive for the New York Rangers' hockey club, and let's call it what it is: Henrik Lundqvist belongs on TV. It is a straight up waste not having his mug on a screen at all times.
