St. Louis' Ville Husso is expected to hit the free agent market on Wednesday, July 13th at 12 p.m. ET, but Andy Strickland of Bally Sports Midwest believes that the team will make a push to re-sign the Finnish netminder.

"Been lots of chatter, but I expect the #stlblues to make a real effort to extend Ville Husso. He loves it in STL and has a great relationship with Jordan Binnington." Strickland said in a tweet on Sunday morning.

The 27-year-old had a solid second season in the National Hockey League, appearing in 40 games for the Blues. In those 40 games, Husso posted a 25-7-6 record with a 2.56 GAA, a .919 save percentage and two shutouts. Husso also appeared in seven playoff games, putting up a 2-5 record and one shutout, as the Blues lost to Colorado in the second round.

Given his breakout season, Husso is going to get a significant raise from the $750,000 he made during the 2021-22 campaign. An AAV in the range of $3.5-4 million seems reasonable for the Helsinki native, but will the Blues want to potentially have upwards of $10 million of their salary cap tied up between two goaltenders?

If Husso does hit the open market on July 13th, there will be many teams lining up hoping to sign him. Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto and Washington are four teams that immediately come to mind.
