It hasn't even been two years since Brian Burke was hired as President of Hockey Operations with the Pittsburgh Penguins, but it appears his position may be in trouble already. According to Larry Brooks with the New York Post, not all is well between Burke and Penguins ownership.

So we're hearing this new Pittsburgh ownership group may not be so enamored with Brian Burke keeping his post as president of hockey ops after a second straight first-round flameout. - Larry Brooks, New York Post

Add to that the Penguins being ousted in the play in round of the 2020 playoffs, meaning the team technically didn't make the playoffs at all.

Burke was hired when Pittsburgh decided to make some wholesale front office changes. The message was clear: no rebuild, we have the pieces to compete now. As it stands at the moment, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang are free agents come July 13th. If one or both decide to sign elsewhere, the impact on the Penguins chances to compete now will be enormous. Burke and GM Ron Hextall certainly have their work cut out for them.
