Juraj Slafkovsky likely won't be the number one pick in the upcoming 2022 NHL Entry Draft, but he certainly won't be far off. While Shane Wright appears to be the consensus number one, Slafkovsky will likely square off with Logan Cooley for the number two and number three slot. With the draft a month away, the Montreal Canadiens have been completing their due diligence with the first overall pick, interviewing prospects and, in some cases, taking them to dinner. The Habs bought dinner for both Wright and Cooley, while sticking with a normal sit-down interview for Slafkovsky. Slafkovsky was asked about that over the weekend. He didn't seem to mind.

"I did not have the dinner, but the talk we had, to me, tasted better than dinner," said Slafkovsky with a smile.

This show of confidence got a good laugh out of the reporters in attendance for the Q and A with Slafkovsky. He seemed to think it was pretty funny himself.

Slafkovsky, a left-shooting forward, spent last season in the Finnish Elite League as a 17-year-old. He scored five goals and added five assists for 10 points in 31 games. He had a great showing playing for Slovakia at the Olympics, scoring seven goals in seven games. He may not be ranked as high as Wright or Cooley, but all signs point to the team selecting him getting a great prospect.
