Speaking with reporters on Friday, Pavel Buchnevich said that Jared Spurgeon reached out to him to apologize after a dirty cross-check in Game 1 of the opening round series between the St. Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild.

Many fans expected Spurgeon to be suspended after he laid a vicious cross-check to the ankles of Buchnevich. The NHL's Department of Player Safety didn't view it to be as dangerous as some, however, as they chose to fine him instead. Despite some Blues fans being outraged over the incident, Buchnevich appears to have already moved past it.

«I leave at that. He apologized,» Buchnevich said. «I don't know. I just (don't) know him that well. I hear he's not that type of player, but what's happened, happened. I'm not injured so it's nice, like he said that. Good words from him, and we move on.»

As Buchnevich alluded to, Spurgeon is not known at all for being a dirty player, which is what made his actions so shocking to many. It was clear that in a game where his Wild team was blown out, frustrations mounted and caused him to act out of character.
