After not playing during the 2021-22 season, free agent forward and 1997 second overall pick, Patrick Marleau, is set to hold a press conference on Tuesday, May 10th with the San Jose Sharks to address his playing future.

The 42-year-old spent parts of 23 seasons in the National Hockey League with the San Jose Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins. Marleau is the NHL's all-time leader in games played at 1,779.

In those 1,779 career games, he's recorded 1,197 points (566 goals, 631 assists), and 527 penalty minutes. Marleau also had plenty of playoff success, albeit without winning a Stanley Cup. In 195 playoff games, he had 127 points (72 goals, 55 assists).

If this indeed is the end of the road for Marleau and his playing career, it'll be sad to see him go. He had a long career, was a big part of San Jose on and off the ice and was a great leader. It wouldn't be shocking to see him inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame when he is eligible.
