Newly acquired San Jose Sharks netminder Kaapo Kahkonen recently made his second start for the team on Thursday night versus the Colorado Avalanche, giving up four goals on 46 shots in a 4-2 loss.
Players and coaches alike both had nothing but praise for the 25-year-old, but Kahkonen wasn't exactly pleased with his play.
«Good is not good enough in this league,» Kahkonen said. «I don't want to be the good goalie. I want to be the guy that makes a difference and keeps that game tighter at the end there.»
Kahkonen did his job keeping the team in the game for the first two periods. He stopped 15 shots in the first period and gave up just one goal in 40 minutes to the NHL's second-best offense. The Sharks however would go on to lose the game 4-2.
The former Minnesota Wild goalie has allowed eight goals in two starts with San Jose, but he has proven to be a quality NHL goalie with 28 quality starts and a 2.91 career GAA.
