We live in an age where misinformation is passed around so quickly, sometimes people can actually believe it's true. During last night's pre-game show on Bally Sports Sun, analysts Paul Kennedy and Dave Andreychuk discussed a Ben Chiarot trade that was posted by a fake Toronto Maple Leafs Twitter account.

"Here's how the East stacks up. Both Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh are in position to win their divisions. Florida has lost three in a row, they have Ottawa in South Florida." Kennedy said.

Andreychuk added, "Washington has tumbled a little bit, and Pittsburgh has climbed up on that. You look at the Toronto Maple Leafs, they made another deal here today as the trade deadline looms on March 21st, getting Ben Chiarot from the Montreal Canadiens, giving up two prospects and a first round pick."

The "trade" that was posted by the fake Maple Leafs account saw Chiarot and a 2022 third round pick go to Toronto in exchange for prospects Topi Niemela, Matthew Knies and a 2022 first round pick.

With the trade deadline just over two weeks away, people should be very aware of fake accounts of TSN and Sportsnet insiders, as well as teams in this instance. Always look for the blue check mark beside someone's name on Twitter.
