There's been a trade that occurred in the NHL today, as the Chicago Blackhawks and divisional rivals Winnipeg Jets were dance partners in this move.

The NHL season is less than two months away from the trade deadline, but moves continue to happen. We have just seen a trade between divisional rivals Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks.

Dmitry Kuzmin and Isaak Phillips are the players involved

NHL insider Darren Dreger was the first to report the trade between these two rivals that will see Isaak Phillips go from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Winnipeg Jets, and Dmitry Kuzmin is the player going the other way.

Winnipeg is one of the top teams in the NHL, and Chicago is still in full rebuild mode, so both teams are heading in opposite directions.

Kuzmin has not suited up in a single game yet this season for the Jets, having played 21 games with the AHL's Manitoba Moose, scoring one goal and adding three assists. He has actually never played a single NHL game in his career yet.

He may get the chance to finally see some NHL action now that he will be on a rebuilding Blackhawks team.

Philips, on the other hand, has seen some NHL action, suiting up in three games with Chicago this season, with only one goal to show for in those games.

Perhaps on a more stacked Jets squad, he can be paired with some better linemates and do more damage.

As both teams head in opposite directions, fans can only hope that this trade will be exactly what each team needs for their respective paths.
