The International Ice Hockey Federation will meet in the next few days to discuss the potential fallout of the Russian invasion into Ukraine according to TSN's Chris Johnston.

"The IIHF is monitoring the conflict unfolding in Ukraine. A council meeting will be held in the next few days to discuss any potential fallout from the situation -- with Russia currently scheduled to host both the World Juniors and Men's World Championship in 2023," Johnston said on Thursday night.

The KHL is set to begin their playoffs on March 1st, but they may be doing so without two foreign teams. It's being reported that Jokerit, a team based in Helsinki (Finland) is set to pull out of the Gagarin Cup playoffs, while government officials in Latvia are calling on Dynamo Riga to also drop out.

Hockey isn't the only sport dealing with the fallout from the Russian invasion either. UEFA, the governing body for soccer in Europe, has announced that they are in the process of moving the Champions League Final out of Russia. While FIFA, the international governing body for soccer, has to make a decision about upcoming World Cup qualifying matches that are set to be played in Russia at the end of March.

Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine at this extremely difficult time.
