Father-son duo Jimmy and A.J. Galante's minor league hockey team, the Danbury Trashers, were known for their fighting on the ice. Now, they have teamed up with a promotional group to create a new combat sport on ice.

A new sport called «Ice Wars» is in production and the first show is expected to be held in the spring of 2022.

"Ice Wars will not be a one and done, we are basically creating a new combat sport," A.J. Galante said in a written announcement to the press on Thursday. "This won't be the first time I got involved with something from scratch, this will be something new and different, and I believe we can entice more than just hockey fans to tune in."

The new sport is being modeled after an event called "The Battle of the Hockey Enforcers," which took place in 2005 in Prince George, British Columbia.

If you're unfamiliar with the story of the Danbury Trashers, check out the episode of Netflix's Untold: Crime and Penalties dedicated to the team. It is a very interesting and surprising story.
