Blackhawks enlist the help of three former players in general manager search

The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Monday that they've chosen Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp and Eddie Olczyk to assist them in their search for a new general manager.

In a statement, Blackhawks CEO Danny Wirtz said, "We are honored to announce a group of advisors who will assist our search to find the next general manager for the Chicago Blackhawks. Three former players with deep roots in the Blackhawks family, Marian Hossa, Eddie Olczyk and Patrick Sharp, will be apart of our advisory group. Marian, Eddie and Patrick are respected hockey minds who have great knowledge of the game. In addition, Mike Forde and his group from Sportology have been assisting us from the start of this process and will continue their support."

Wirtz added, "Alongside other advisors, we will use their expertise and industry-leading strategy while looking for our next general manager. The perspective of this group will provide is instrumental to this process and we are excited to have them assist the club with this important decision. We will start interviewing candidates this week."

Olczyk, 55, was drafted by the Blackhawks with the third overall pick in 1984. He played parts of five season with Chicago during his career (1984-87; 1998-2000).

Sharp, 40, spent parts of eleven seasons with Chicago, winning three Stanley Cups with them in 2010, 2013 and 2015. Meanwhile, Marian Hossa, 43, also was a huge part of their dynasty, winning three Stanley Cup and spending the last eight seasons of his career with the Blackhawks.
