Frustration is clearly mounting in Edmonton as the Oilers look like a team that has completely lost hope. After a hot start to the 2021-22 season, it's been all downhill for captain Connor McDavid and the team, which was really accented Thursday night by a 6-0 loss to the Florida Panthers. Following the sixth goal, two Edmonton jerseys were tossed on the ice, along with what looked to be a beverage can.

According to World Hockey Report, a third jersey was thrown on the ice during play.

Thursday night's loss was the Oilers seventh in a row. The team has not won a game since December 18th, a 5-3 victory over the Seattle Kraken. According to Sportsnet Stats, McDavid has no goals in his last eight home games, something that hasn't happened to him since his rookie season.

With GM Ken Holland's refusal to replace coach Dave Tippett, there is no quick fix in sight for Edmonton (not that firing Tippett would guarantee a turn around anyway). The players will need to figure this one out for themselves, or missing the playoffs is a very likely possibility.
