Some potentially devastating news for the Boston Bruins on Thursday night, as Brad Marchand was forced to leave the game after being drilled into the boards by Washington Capitals forward Garnet Hathaway.

Marchand, 33, never returned after the incident, and head coach Bruce Cassidy didn't provide much on his status afterward. From watching the Bruins' pesky forward on the bench immediately after the hit, it appeared as though he was dealing with pain in his shoulder, though we can expect to hear more about that later friday. Here's the hit and the aftermath.

If the Bruins are forced to be without Marchand for any period of time, they will need others in their lineup to pick things up offensively to make up for his loss. In 32 games this year, he has been incredible with 20 goals and 43 points.
