Following Thursday night's 4-3 overtime loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, Montreal Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme provided an update on injured goaltender Jake Allen.

Allen left January 12th's game late in the first period after the Bruins scored their second goal of the game. He went over to the Canadiens' bench to talk to the trainers before leaving and being relieved by Samuel Montembeault. He then travelled back to Montreal for further evaluation.

Ducharme told reporters that Allen will miss the next eight weeks with a lower-body injury.

With Carey Price being sidelined all season, the Fredericton, New Brunswick native has appeared in 24 games this season for the Canadiens. Allen has a record of 5-16-2 with a 3.15 G.A.A., a .901 save percentage and two shutouts.

With Allen out, the Canadiens will have to rely on a goaltending tandem that has very little NHL experience. Montembeault and Cayden Primeau will likely be the two between the pipes going forward.
