The Edmonton Oilers need goaltending help badly, as the team views this season as a true opportunity to make a deep run in the Stanley Cup playoffs. But if they want to achieve that goal, they'll need to upgrade from their current tandem of Mikko Koskinen and Mike Smith.

While on The Jeff Marek Show, Elliotte Friedman mentioned the Oilers are prioritizing goaltending help but added that they don't want to do a panic move or a "silly move".

"I think they're looking at this & saying, look we don't want to do something silly for a goalie, we don't want to do a panic move...You just get to a point where you're like, we have to do it, and it's a dangerous place to be but I think that's where the Oilers are right now," Friedman said.

Jeff Marek threw out three names that could be possible fits with Edmonton Oilers. Those names were, Semyon Varlamov (New York Islanders), Vitek Vanecek (Washington) and Joonas Korpisalo (Columbus), while Elliotte Friedman mentioned Ville Husso (St. Louis).

The Edmonton Oilers currently sit seventh in the Pacific Division, six points back of the San Jose Sharks for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference. General Manager Ken Holland has roughly two months to find a goalie to help them climb the standings towards a playoff spot.
