After becoming an unrestricted free agent on July 28th 2021 and not finding a new club, forward Brandon Pirri is returning to the Chicago Blackhawks organization.

Chicago's American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, announced on Friday afternoon that Pirri has signed professional tryout contract (PTO) and will be in the lineup tonight when they face the Chicago Wolves.

"PIRRI. IS. BACK! All-time @goicehogs scorer Brandon Pirri has agreed to a pro tryout agreement and will play TONIGHT vs. @Chicago_Wolves!" The IceHogs said on Twitter.

Pirri, 30, was selected in the second round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks and has spent parts of five seasons in their organization. As Rockford's tweet mentions, Pirri is the first all-time in points in IceHogs history with 210.

The Toronto, Ontario native has spent parts of eleven seasons in the National Hockey League with Chicago, Florida, Anaheim, the New York Rangers and Vegas. In 279 career NHL games, Pirri has 121 points (72 G, 49 A), 91 penalty minutes and is a +5.
