Roughly fifteen hours after the Montreal Canadiens lost in overtime to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team faces a goaltending dilemma after Cayden Primeau was added to the COVID-19 protocol list.

Primeau was supposed to start in net on Thursday night in Raleigh against the Carolina Hurricanes, but that will more than likely go to Samuel Montembeault, who played well last night.

Montreal is now down three goaltenders. Carey Price, who is still recovering from off-season knee surgery, as well as Jake Allen and Cayden Primeau, both of whom are in COVID protocol.

As for tomorrow night's backup, it appears that it will be Michael McNiven, who is on Montreal's taxi squad according to CapFriendly.
