NHL shuts down pair of teams, three additional games postponed

The National Hockey League announced on Saturday that they've decided to shut down the Boston Bruins and Nashville Predators through at least December 26th due to growing COVID-19 outbreaks within their organizations.

Boston and Nashville now join the Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, and Florida Panthers who are all also shut down until after the NHL's Christmas break.

In addition to the Bruins and Predators shutdowns, the league also announced that an trio of games have been postponed to later date. Those games are, Toronto-Vancouver (scheduled for tonight), Arizona-Vancouver (scheduled for tomorrow), and Toronto-Seattle (scheduled for tomorrow).

Via a statement, the NHL said, "The National Hockey League announced today that, due to concern for a rising number of positive cases as well as the potential for continued COVID spread in the coming days, the Boston Bruins' and Nashville Predators' games will be postponed at least through the scheduled completion of the League's Holiday Break in the schedule on Dec. 26."

"Additionally, due to a number of Toronto and Vancouver Players entering COVID protocol over the past two days, tonight's Toronto-Vancouver game and tomorrow's Arizona-Vancouver and Toronto-Seattle games have been postponed."
