Despite rumours of not being well-liked in the San Jose Sharks dressing room, Evander Kane seems to be quickly earning himself the acceptance of his teammates in the AHL. Kane, who is playing for the San Jose Barracuda, had a big night on Wednesday, scoring his first ever AHL goal and adding three assists.

"I thought he was great," said Barracuda coach Roy Sommer. "Every time he was on, he created. You could tell he was above everyone that's out there. When he wants to raise his game, he's pretty effective, especially at this level."

Teammate Ryan Merkley praised Kane for his locker room presence.

"It's been awesome," Merkley said. "He brought the morale up for sure. The guys are having a lot more fun. I wasn't expecting it, but it's been a nice surprise."

As for Kane, he's loving it so far.

"It's been great," said Kane. "You can tell the guys are happy to have me around. I know we didn't start off with a win, but the last two games have been great."

Meanwhile, there were plenty of NHL scouts in attendance Wednesday night, with representatives from Philadelphia, Edmonton, Florida, Tampa Bay, Seattle, Winnipeg, Chicago and Vegas at the game to watch the Barracuda's 10-5 win over the Colorado Eagles.
